Jinxed!

As soon as I get going, something goes wrong again.... I was using XMMS, and decided to play one of the plug-ins, 'blur'. It was quite cool. I turned XMMS off, came to my computer the next day and hey presto! Opening an MP3 or OGG file, or just clicking on the XMMS applet brings up the plug in window that either a) hangs ad infinitum ad nauseum -until I Xkill it b) comes up then the window disappears. This occurs in Gnome AND KDE. I'm using MDK8.0 I'm pretty sure it must be the plug in, as it was the only thing that changed. I've looked in /usr/shar/apps/xmms but it doesn't appear to have any conf files, so I assume that it is stored in a conf file for my log in. Where is this? I managed to get my LT modem in my Toshiba laptop working by downloading the driver sources from a link on linmodems.org, installing the kernel-headers and running one of the scripts (I think it was called 'make_deb') in the driver distribution. They also include scripts like 'make_rpm' for other distros packaging systems. For more info please email me. Just thought it might give you hope. I think even if it's just near Cambridge, we should invite them as a matter of courtesy. I'm cc'ing this to Cam-LUG to see if they're interested in a weekend meeting at Red Lodge in November. Meetings, Cambridge, an afterthought

I used to be the Regional Secretary of a voluntary body, and had occasion to organise a group meeting in Cambridge. I had it pointed out to me after the meeting that parking in Cambridge is an extremely difficult exercise. My wife pointed out to me when I failed to grasp this point, that while we could park very near to where we were going, having an `Orange Badge' meant that we were parking for 6 hours,at no cost in an `on road space' where others were having to pay £3.00 an hour.
