That's exactly how we did all the E3 development - with Netgear FA101 adapters which are a Pegasus compatible chip and then mounting the root over NFS. We also found that Belkin F5D5050 worked well.

I'm kind of surprised that y'all weren't developing over NFS already and debugging using gdbserver at one end and gdb/ddd at the PC end.
