Of course, being me, nthing works still, but I thought Adam was being a bit optimistic on IRC last night telling me it would. I need to read up more on apache now, thanks for the pointers all. Re. the comments on the use of php...I was planning on using it for small intranet type reports that, eg, suck info out of a database into an html file, then learn java for more fully blown web stuff. Compiler Error Messages

You have many many more options of what software to use, some of which will effect the basic appearance and behaviour of the system. So, what Linux would people suggest? Linux Expo, Wednesday, Where and when are we meeting?

There was apparently an agreement reached on IRC tonight as to a place and time within the exhibition where alug members would meet to compare freebies etc. M J Ray asked if someone would post the details to the alug-announce mailing list, but I think by then anyone who had been party to the discussion has left IRC. If you were party to the discussion and rememeber what time and place was agreed could you please post a message to the alug-announce mailing list with the place and time concerned. Steve.

firewall messages

Hello, Recently, I have upgraded my SuSE firewall and have been noticing these messages (below) in my xconsole. I am on a 56k dial-up offering no services and all ports are closed (except for one which is open to localhost), so I feel pretty secure and all 'on-line applications' I use seem to be working fine, so I am curious as to what this means. I use a 2.4.2 kernel and iptables firewall. Any ideas? The src IP changes sometimes, but often is the same or similar.
