Resuming from suspend2 hibernation

Is anyone successfully resuming from hibernation with suspend2 2.2.8 on kernel 2.6.18.2? If so, how, please? I guess the solution will have something to do with what's in the "init" file of the initrd. Mine is appended below: as you can see, it contains three attempts at resuming: by putting a file in /sys, by putting a file in /proc, and by using the (undocumented) nash command "resume." None of them work, I just get a fresh boot. The middle one works fine with suspend2 2.2.7 on kernel 2.6.17.2, but with the newer software, it produces an error message about not being able to open the file in /proc for writing, because there's no such file or directory. Ubuntu Boot Splash

A quick question to those who have upgraded to Edgy. Should I still be seing the Testcard during boot, it's not clear from the forums if this was replaced as promised before release and I wonder if the disputes/arguments regarding the edgy artwork have delayed this. I only ask because it is blooming ugly and I am hoping that I have just missed an update that replaces it.

Olympus c-460 with Linux

I have an Olympus C-460 digital camera and, at the moment, I can't get Linux to see it at all. If I run xcam it simply hangs. The camera doesn't appear at all as a USB device when I plug it in. It works fine in Win2k. -- Chris Green (chris(a)halon.org.uk)

How to print one image on multiple pages?

I used to be able to do this by mistake! Now I can't work out how to do it on purpose. I want to print a .PDF diagram on two sheets of A3 rather than a single sheet, it's too small on a single sheet. How can I do this? I can't see any options in gv or, more to the point, in the CUPS printer set up, that allow me to tell the printer interface to do this. -- Chris Green (chris(a)halon.org.uk)

Using Lightscribe with Linux

If there's anyone on the list who, like me, has a lightscribe capable drive and has just accepted that they can't use this feature under GNU/Linux then take a look at this post on the Ubuntu forums; <http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=282313> I hope to give it a try over the w/e. No kind of expert on anything, but I fixed a similar problem by installing Epson's own package. iscan. Just went in and then sane worked fine. This was Mandriva and also Suse, for a 1640. And another epson at my little charity. Without iscan Xsane wouldn't work, with it it went perfectly. Peter

Any Sane experts out there?

Sane as in scanners on Linux that is, you don't have to be actually sane! :-) I have an Epson V700 scanner which is listed as supported by the sane-epson backend. However I'm having a hard time getting the thing recognised by anything at all. It is connected and functioning because "sane-find-scanner" successfully finds it and lists the right parameters:- found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x012c [EPSON Scanner]) at libusb:7:2 So it's there and connected to the USB OK. But that's as far as I can get and the Sane documentation isn't very forthcoming on what I have to do next. Should it "just work" now or is there a configuration file that needs editing? Nothing in the Sane documentation seems to tell me what's needed. The above "sane-find-scanner" also says "Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.". I've done that, "scanimage -L" doesn't detect any scanners and the sane.epson man page leaves me none the wiser really. I have tried adding the following line to /etc/sane.d/epson.conf:- usb 0x4b8 0x12c but it hasn't helped. I'm stuck, what do I need to do to actually get some sane front end to see the scanner via the back-end? -- Chris Green (chris(a)halon.org.uk)
