Sonning Eye swim, THIS EVENING

Hi all We're having a swim tonight from the French Horn at Sonning Eye, meeting 6pm outside the French Horn pub, swimming towards St Patrick's Stream near Shiplake, which is about a mile; but there are places to get out and walk along the Thames Path if you'd like a shorter swim. We're planning to leave cars by the French Horn, and walk back along the Thames Path, so shoes are advised. Also, most of the exit points involve some clambering through greenery. Bank Holiday Monday morning swim

I'm planning to swim along the Thames from Days Lock to Meadside on Bank Holiday Monday, 30 August, early in the morning to - hopefully - avoid the worst of the boat traffic. Anyone wishing to join me will be very welcome, meet at Meadside lay-by just south of Dorchester (same place as for the full moon swim last Tuesday 24th) at 0815 hrs. I have NO intention to attempting to swim upstream on this occasion. Any takers? Neil Richardson

August full moon swim

Hello all, The August full moon is on Tuesday 24th. And I'm sure there is nowhere you'd rather be than in the Thames at Dorchester. Sunset is 19:40 moonrise is 20:05. Let's meet here http://www.multimap.com/s/MavVkCew at 7.45 to be in as the moon rises. We'll then swim towards the moon which will get fuller as we go. By the time we get out, it should be pretty high and full. The swim will either be around a mile, or two thirds of a mile - tbc. If you just want a little splash - there is a beach where you can do that. There should be time for a lunar pint afterwards.... Please be aware that the moon's visibility is dependent on the weather so it may well be pretty dark. If that doesn't sound appealing, the splash might work for you, or it may be best to stay dry!
