Hello,
Are there any kind souls in Norwich with enough space in a car to be able to get me to the meeting on Sunday? I'm based along the Ipswich Road and would happily throw a few pounds in their direction for petrol costs, etc.
Does anybody have any copies of RedHat 6.0 burnt on a CD-ROM as yet, as a matter of interest? And me final doodah is what is currently planned for the Sunday anyway?
Regards,
Martyn

Certainly - I'll give you a shout nearer the weekend to sort out times etc.

I was kinda hoping you'd be able to do that ;-) I've got RedHat 5.2, and I'll try and get a Debian CD or two sorted out as well.

So far -
* Welcome, introductions etc * Demos of Gnome, KDE, mozilla? * Installations / linux troubleshooting *Close at around 4, drink in the bar/pub? :-)
Any suggestions for stuff to do are welcome.
Andrew.

That would be great - many thanks - :) My home phone no. is 01603 503899 in case you need it, or alternatively the mobile on 0411 602009 in case I can't access email.

If I can find a decent CD image somewhere, I'll get it downloaded and will burn 10 copies to take with me to the meeting to anybody that wants it (may charge a quid for the CD).

Do we have any idea of numbers yet?
Do I need to organise sarnies or something?
Do I need to try to find the time to get my (W95) CD-burner up-and-running?
Is someone bringing a mini-hub? Will I need spare cables etc?
Is someone going to help me get my ISDN working, plus firewall, plus ppp, plus, plus? :^)
FYI, bar should be open all day: real ale is Adnams and Major Brown's (locally-brewed); lunch served between 12:00 and 2:00, Jazz finishes at 3pm(ish).

Well, IIRC 15 "founding members" plus anyone who sees the ads minus those who can't come. Any clearer ;-)?

:)

<grin> Yes please. FWIW I can get CDs burned at uni, so I'll try getting RH6.0 /maybe/ tomorrow. I'll try getting the New Caldera 2.2(?) and *maybe* Debian. I'd like to try something other than RH.
Anything I burn I'll bring along to save d/l times, etc. Oh, and while on the subject, does anyone want me to create a CD with:-
- Latest stable and snapshots (if poss) of GNOME and KDE
- uhm, anything else biggish that's popular ;)
Could be useful for those with tons of tarballs on their system to have a backup handy...

I can't even bring my PC :(

heh.

OK. Noted.
BTW, I'll call the Rail people and organise my timetable tonight so if whomever offered a lift from Ipswich (that is right, isn't?) station you raise your hand I'll send you the pickup details (if the offer still stands of course :).

Hi All,
Okay, I've updated the website to list those that have said they'll be there - at the moment, it stands at 8, with a couple more I know of that haven't confirmed yet. Drop me a line people if you think you can make it!
Laurie: it's up to you on the sarnies front, as long as there's somewhere handy we can buy good grub, I'll be happy! (Those that know me well, yes I do mean "Adnams" when I say grub :-)
Hopefully we'll have a fair selection of CDs kicking around, and I can bring along a Zip drive if need be. I'll leave it up to you on the CD-burner front (hate to inflict needless hours of Win95 use on you).
Is someone bringing a mini-hub? Will I need spare cables etc?
I'll bring some cheapernet cable, I'll see if I can lay my hands on a hub. If anyone else has one, PLEASE BRING IT!
As for advertising: please print out http://www.anglian.lug.org.uk/images/advert.gif and stick it up wherever you can find space. If you'd rather have postscript or some other format, drop me a line. If you'd like the logo to put together another poster, gimme a shout. If you want to throw together a better logo - please do! (I'm not an artist, that's for sure.)
Andrew.

We should probably take requests and put together a standard CD, then split the burning across a few of us. Be nice to have a souvenir CD to take away ;-)
In addition to gnome/kde etc, how about loads of docs? All the howtos and LDP stuff? Anyone that wants a CD, shout now, so we can write them before Sunday!

Just bear in mind my burning capability extend to the usage of a departmental machine at uni. That's it.

Well, I thought every distro came with /usr/doc but then I only *know* RedHat does. Still, it's only like 2.5Mb or so for the txt howtos zipped.
btw, anyone tried sunsite, org.uk for redhat-6.0? I'm in e-mail communication with "wizard" at sunsite due to many of the directories being empty. Such is the scale of the lack of files I have recommended getting an entirly new copy of the redhat-6.0 directory. Weird.

I'm interested in CDs with Redhat 6 and gnome/kde on. If someone can bring some along I would be happy to pay for the media.

I've got 10 clean CDs here, which cost me a quid each. I'll bring them along, even if I don't get time to sort my burner out.

SuSE, which I have (6.0), has the lot on the CDs, and they are loaded onto ones system by default (I probably declined the default). However, I'm sure we can sort something out.
