Hi everyone
I agree with Pam about darkness falling - I was quite alarmed tonight to see how dark it was at 7.30. I don't mean to sound like a scaredy-cat but I don't think I'm ready for swimming in the dark! Is there a stopping place where we could get out after say 45 mins? I may be able to be there a bit earlier, somewhere between 6.30 and 6.45. If we were in the water at 6.45 we could certainly have 45 mins of swimming in the light. Let me know what you think. I too will be wearing my wetsuit.

Hi all,
There are plenty of get out points along the way.
I would definitely advise this is a wetsuit swim though - some of the get out places have nettles around. Also last time we did this swim it was getting a bit chilly.
It would be better if we can get going by 6:45pm rather than 7:00. 15 mins would make all the difference.
I'll aim to be there by 6:30pm latest.
Does anyone need a lift? I'm coming from Binfield (edge of Bracknell, not Binfield Heath)
Looking forward to this.
Best regards

I think it *is* about 40 mins to the getting out point that I marked on the map - is that right, Lindsay? There are also a few options before that, though probly weedier and muddier. All of them exit right onto the Thames path. I'll try to be at the French Horn as close to 6.30 as possible. cheers H

Hi everyone,
Helen, I'd say the place marked on your map is about spot on, and yes, we were going for about 40 mins by the time we reached that place. Subject to how strong the flow of the river is (probably not very) then aiming for the same get out point is most likely perfect length and duration for Wednesday, given the proposed starting time.
Thinking of swimming in the dark, I seem to recall that on our 'in the rain / fast current adventure swim' it was pretty much dark when we got to St. Patricks stream... Didn't we have a bit of a job seeing the bridge ?
See you all opposite the French Horn on Wednesday at 6:30pm.
Best regards
Lindsay

Jeremy and I are meeting earlier to swim upstream a bit so please expect to see us in the river/by the river looking like refuges from the Special Boat Service. Please don't wait for us by the cars.
