miserable ....t (I thought fishermen were supposed to be jolly souls). Anyway, good for the girls - should go down in history!

The fisherman on Swim 4 was 100 yards from Hannington bridge and it was too narrow to avoid him. We passed with smiles, thank yous and sorrys but he just said that we had ruined his day and we had ruined the river so mark the date in your diary. It was the day that three women destroyed the River Thames.

The Days Lock-Dorchester fisherman are a much friendlier breed it seems (or maybe we've got them well-trained) - one even asked if he could catch me and win his competition!

Well done the 3 of you, a great achievement as its a very long one. Claire and I did the short bit from the Swan to Radcot, which was also very nice, but very full of unfriendly fishers of men - wait till David W comes along with his film crew!!!!!

I second all the comments in this report. The swimmers in question also had to face the wrath (/ grump) of an unenlightened angler.

What a heavenly swim with Pauline and Chloe. It rained a bit; we wore wetsuits and I felt guilty but, since we were in the water for three and a half hours, I think that it was sensible. We stopped at the footbridge for flapjacks and coffee and then swam on the last half mile to the car park. Lunch at the Riverside pub just along the river in the blazing sunshine.
Two major interactions with swans. Where is Adam when you need him? Swanning off? Ducking out? I got chased by a herd of cows who appeared Zulu style over the brow of the river bank as I slithered inelegantly back in. One house to lust after with a Private sign that just made me get out to look.
See you all soon
Pam
Ps No swans were hurt in the practical research for this article (but i got nettled)
