/The weather's lovely and may still be lovely next Sunday as we push on towards Oxford, hopefully arriving at the outskirts at Port Meadow by the end of October and before the first snow. In this penultimate leg to our intermediate goal of Oxford we will be swimming from Cassington Cut to Kings lock, both locations are a bit out in the sticks so we will have a pre-swim warm up walk, followed by the swim and concluding with a post swim warm down walk. This corresponds to the remainder of swim #27 in Michael Worthington's book, 'I Love the Thames' and will be around 3km. We're meeting in the car park of the Trout Inn at Godstow / Lower Wolvercote at 10:30am on Sunday 9th October 2011 - Green Arrow marks the spot: http://g.co/maps/6k5ub >From there we will walk along the Oxford Greenbelt Way that conveniently cuts the corner of the meandering Thames, skirts the Wytham Great Wood and joins the Thames path at our entry point opposite the Cassington Cut. We will pass the joining of the Evenlode tributary - will there be a cooling effect? Wooo Hoooo - we have upped the anti today on the freebies on the river stakes..... we were given Birthday Cake today from a lady who had turned 55 :o) I think that definitely tops tea and biscuits!!! Hope you all have a super sunny Sunday - Adam, Swan Wrangler, Stocks and I will see if we can get champagne and caviar today! Jo

Hi James Sunday's swim would probably be a perfect one for you - not too long, and both Adam and I are only moderate ability too (Adam is better moderate than I!). The only drawback is that we normally have ground support when it is the whole group, which means we can stop half way for tea and cake, but as this is just a catch up we won't have that. However, its going to be such a lovely day that am sure just a little break in the sun will be enough! So, the plan is that we will meet in the little car park just after the Swinford Toll Bridge (5p at the ready!), on the pub side of the river, at 11.00. The car park costs £2. http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=444500&y=208500&z=120&sv=swinford&st=3… We will get changed there, walk up to the start - about a 20 min walk; swim down and then walk back up from the exit point too. Its all on grass paths once we are down by the river, however you might want to bring some shoes that you could leave at Eynsham Lock to walk back across the toll bridge. Adam will have a vacpack thing for his car key, so we will put all keys in his car for safety. Apart from that, don't think there is anything else you need to know. I should only be a moderate liability (have wetsuit, did the Dart swim last month etc.) but this, excitingly, would be my first swim in the Thames.
