ALUG is 5 on May 2nd this year! What are we going to do to celebrate? Any of you firestarters want to do something special? I like quite a few of you who are still here, was at Woodbridge on that Sunday in 1999. ALUG has given me so much over the past 5 years, many friends, much help and a real sense of being part of something that is very special, I feel we really should mark this event. Cheers, BJ

Yeah! Cheers, Laurie. PS. Some may remember that I hosted that very first meeting... -- -------------------------------------------------------------------- Laurie Brown laurie@brownowl.com --------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, I remember! I also remember the first announce message in uk.local.east-anglia about the mailing list. I was quite a noob back then and I remember that going to the Alug meeting helped me really get into Linux! I think those were the early days of Redhat 6 :) I also recall at the time that Laurie had huge amounts of bandwidth with his dual stream ISDN line :) Anyhow +1 for celebrating :) Is anyone going to try and get in touch with some of the out of touch members from back then? Go for it! Following on from the discussion during the past few days about the planned meeting in Norwich the previous weekend, I have no problem with cancelling it if you or anyone else wants to organise something different for the w/e of the 2nd May. Or people can do something in Norwich? As you probably saw, there is talk of trying to book a room at UEA for the end of April meet so something probably needs to be decided soon. As mentioned before, a lot depends on how many people will be away over the bank holiday. Syd
