Applied Maths Learning Resources
This is another part of my site that's been sadly neglected. Email
me if you want to give me a prod to do something with it.
Oxford Courses by Topic
Material relating to the current Oxford University undergraduate
courses.
b5 Differential and Integral Equations
- Lecture notes taken by Mark Colman and hosted by MURC:
- Some suggested revision work - I offered this as a vac work sheet
this year.
General Basics
These things are likely to be most useful to those who are about to
begin an applied maths course, or who are in their first year of
one. One note - the word `basic' in the header of this section implies
only that these are concepts on which many other concepts are
built. It doesn't imply that everybody should already know everything
covered here.
- RUReady
for ODEs? - a set of web-based quizzes to check your understanding
of some basic concepts needed for an applied maths course. It covers
logs, exponentials, differentiation, integration and series, and gives
helpful advice when you get something wrong. You'll need Javascript
turned on.
- Vector Calculus
Web Page by Kris Green at the University of Arizona
- Techniques of
proof and problem solving by Deborah Stacey at the University of
Guelph. It seems to be mainly aimed at courses such as b1 Logic, but
the beginning has generally useful advice on proving theorems.
