Sounds good to me!

See you probably somewhere around the junction of Wintringham Way and Colyton Way, or where ever near there that we can find space to park.

Best regards

Yes - option 3 walk and then swim gets my vote as well. (We can always get out a bit early if we feel like it and the remaining walk will be shorter.)

I'll see you at Mapledurham lock end (but on Purley housing estate side) at 5:45pm if we're all agreed on option 3.

  Regards Jeremy

Thanks for the outlines, Lindsay. I vote for option 3, and agree that we should strike version 2 from consideration. Jeremy, any preference?

  cheers

  Helen

  Hello all,

Been out to a Round Table event this evening (riding a 4 man bicycle, would you believe !) so away from e-mail...

  Various options...

Could park at Pangbourne rec, off Thames Avenue (for Pangbourne meadows) start swim there, go with current, get out and walk back.

  or

Could faff about getting cars to both ends (in the assumption we will make it as far as Mapledurham lock - which given the dwindling daylight these evening, I doubt, also as mentioned by Victoria it is probably on the optimistic side of things to expect we'll manage the whole stretch for reasons of distance and coldness.

  or

We park at Mapledurham lock end (but on Purley housing estate side), then walk along as far as Thames beach and swim back to the lock.

I'm easy with any of these options, but I do share Victoria's doubts over whether option 2 is practical. 1 and 3 are equally good for me. Helen what would you prefer - walk and then swim or swim and then walk ?

Looking forward to this for tomorrow either way, and another go at the Sonning to Shiplake stretch next week would be great too.

Helen, I share your hopes that we may get a bit of an 'Indian Summer' (fingers crossed !)

  All best wishes

  Lindsay

Ah, good point. Lindsay is the one who knows this stretch. Where are we meeting, Lindsay?

I'm starting to wonder if the OSSrats email list was such a good idea, as we're now potentially discussing swims in three places - Oxon and RATS email groups, plus the OSS facebook pages! I thought that all the Berkshire activity might get wearisome for people in north Oxon, though... perhaps it will get more straightforward once all the interested parties join OSSRATS.

Cheers, and see you tomorrow I hope, Jeremy and Lindsay.

May have missed it along the way but whereabouts in Pangbourne are we meeting?
