Yes this is a problem isn't it..... =).
I and others seem to have asked similar question before
seemingly without success...
There seems to be a shortage of good public servers in UK.
comm.unicate.me seems to have died recently but used to be good.
jabber.org.uk seems to have bad SSL cert but can work.
jabber.earth.li seems to have unresponsive admins and no working
registration =). May not have been intended to
be quite public-use ?
I wonder what we can do to help running better public servers...
There doesn't seem to be much "incentive" and experienced technical
people seem to just run their own prosody-or-whatever on their vps
or the like... =).
I wonder what the real 'admin problems' and/or 'liabilities / spam
control' really happen with jabber... How feasible is it to just
setup a self-registration public jabber server anyway...! =).
Who knows =).
