A thread I started on the Facebook site as I don't know how many people are on both:
After this conversation http://www.facebook.com/board.php?uid=55781602829#!/ topic.php?uid=55781602829&topic=15473 a swim has been suggested from Sonning to here http://www.multimap.com/s/jxB4RmpR or to St. Patrick's bridge at Charvil.
It's two miles down to Shiplake on the Oxon. bank or one to Charvil on the Berkshire bank. There's a path both sides and some parking at both get out points. Start point the Wharf at Sonning.
I'm not 'organising' anything as such as I don't have a wetsuit and almost certainly won't go the whole distance, but maybe some more experienced people can make suggestions. I do live in Sonning and know the area well.
If one mile, I'd suggest parking at Charvil http://bit.ly/bf9G7b and walking up to the Wharf at Sonning (in front of the Great House).
