I presume you are talking about AA cells? If so then you shouldn't have so many problems with 1.2V nimh cells compared to 1.5V alkaline cells given that alkalines start at 1.5V and quickly drop to below 1.2V where as a nimh cell will carry on giving 1.2V for much much longer. If your device is really picky then it's a bit of a design flaw in the device in the first place really, what is the device? What charger are you using? as getting a decent charger for nimh batteries makes much more of a difference then the brand of battery. I purchased a maha charger some time ago which seemed expensive at ~£30 compared to my five quid charger. I then found most of my devices were lasting (at least) twice as long when batteries had been charged in the maha charger.
