Original message =============================================================================== I have just upgraded my Debian Sarge/Testing system which included a number of X related packages and console switching (Ctrl-Alt-Fn) has stopped working when running X. Even Ctrl-Alt-Backspace won't drop me back to the command line even though X was started using '/etc/init.d/kdm start' from the command line on console 1 which is what I have always done. It just restarts X/kdm. ============================================================================== I have traced this to the /etc/X11/xkb/rules files. Reverting to the old one has cured the problem. I have tried comparing both files but they appear to be so different as to make this impossible for me! Could someone, with appropriate knowledge, have a look at the new file and see if they can point to the bit that stops console switching from working?
