I've posted the who's-who photos from today's ALUG kit meet on http://www.greenhills.co.uk/mak/ALUG-Kit-Meet-20050320/ALUG-Kit-Meet-2005032... It was good fun to see everyone, especially new faces, and to see what people are up to. From simple Linux installs (ehr Brett?), to mChicago's collection of mini-itx bits, and Peter's impressive (if noisy!) Elliot 803 emulator. A big thank-you to Elisabeth for organising the room, and to everyone for bringing food&drink... -- Martijn
Oh bugger (as Pooh said after Tigger jumped on a landmine), I thought that was weeks away... Like on the 20th something... I had wanted to see the Elliot emulator too.. Regards, Paul. On Sunday 20 March 2005 22:02, Martijn Koster wrote:

Hmmmm - it would have worked better if either of the 2 debian install CDs I had actually had worked as install CDs, what it ended up being was a .tar.gz of a chroot on my laptop, mixed with a local mirror ;) It would have all worked fine, but I (foolishly) thought that apt-get install xfonts-* would be a good idea, remind me not to do that again ;) On the other hand, the new partition structure should mean that he can break^Wfix it with $other_distro if he wants, or we can finish fixing it at the next kit meet :) Cheers, - -- Brett Parker web: http://www.sommitrealweird.co.uk/ email: iDunno@sommitrealweird.co.uk -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFCPfrCEh8oWxevnjQRAr6PAKCv6EgGGt9rgw/GjWhzNPdZN3UZZgCeIqKo uTUN27oyQvQ/OAMiVqmZaZs= =Ayqh -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

I idiotically forgot to say thanks for your efforts over the entire afternoon < slaps self on wrist>. Many many thanks! I owe you a round or three next time we're in the City Gate. :-) Michael Morton

Hmmm. That's a cunning move! Wasn't there some move to meet in the Reindeer instead? -- Tony http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/hi-fi/ The only way to tell when a Finn is in love with you is that they look at your feet instead of their own.

Yes indeedy! And a motion that was passed, too ;) I'll do a reminder sometime next week, to give the obligatory 2 weeks notice before the event, and another one very very close to the day (well, the day before, just to make sure that everyone is aware, hopefully ;) Need to update the site, too, I think, so I'll get a patch to slef or somebody when I have a couple of spare minutes ;) Cheers, - -- Brett Parker web: http://www.sommitrealweird.co.uk/ email: iDunno@sommitrealweird.co.uk -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFCP007Eh8oWxevnjQRAnJMAJ9PiKDDRZMLoxwoLXovfnujxw0mkQCfVeMp hTMSNJ25hPWj2k6Djq66YsE= =+JYc -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

That's what I thought, but as it was my first time there, and as it's a move which I would have proposed had I thought it seemly in that position, I was pussyfooting a bit...

Ah. Black Dog. May I insert a commercial here for one of my favourite ales, Elgood's Black Dog, which is always on the engine at the Reindeer?

I want to use up a (colour) film in my camera - want any pics? (I've a nice little B&W 3,200 ASA film I want to try.) -- Tony http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/hi-fi/ The only way to tell when a Finn is in love with you is that they look at your feet instead of their own.

I've got a few pics as well which I'll sort out tomorrow night.

I guess you just don't appreciate the beauty in the "noises" that the emulator makes ;-) There were a few people interested in developing for gnome with with glade/libglade/gtk+. Maybe next time I'll do a mini-presentation on getting started with these tools.
A big thank-you to Elisabeth for organising the room, and to everyone for bringing food&drink...
Indeed... It was an excellent afternoon, nice venue, good supplies of munchies and interesting stuff going on. PeterO
