Hi All, Here's one for you, My Linux box is running an IP MAsquerading firewall, I am trying to configure socks5 for it. I've downloaded it and it compiled fine, but the HOWTO seems to relate to a different version of socks, and the examples arn't what you'd call easy to follow. HELP!!!! What's the actual problem you're having? I found tcpdump invaluable, as were the firewall logs (turn full logging on temporarily and 'tail -f' the log file). Cheers, Laurie. What's the actual problem you're having? I found tcpdump invaluable, as were the firewall logs (turn full logging on temporarily and 'tail -f' the log file).
Sorry it was a bit vague... The problem I have is that I'm using ICQ behind my firewall, and people cant send me files via ICQ. Works fine the other way, and chat sessions work as well. It's annoying, was thinking maybe if ICQ knew about a SOCKS proxy it might work. I don't think that'll make any difference. Assuming you're using ipchains, log all DENY and REJECT, and also use tcpdump on the appropriate interface when you know somone is sending a file. You'll be able to see what's being dropped, and change the firewall appropriately. You have got all the services you need (and ICQ is one of them) enabled in the kernel, haven't you? Be sure to turn the logging off again as the files will get MASSIVE! Cheers, Laurie. I've got ip_masq_icq loaded. My Dad logged into ICQ on his PC, and I had something appear in my logs about it. When I log in nothing appears, but I'm using ICQ 2000, and Dad is using ICQ99.
