Wireless keyboard with trackball for Linux - any experience?
Does anyone here have any experience of using a wireless keyboard with trackball built in with Linux? E.g. something like:- http://www.kenable.co.uk/product_info.php?referer=froogle&products_id=1789 I guess it will probably "just work" but I'd like to be sure there aren't any odd issues before I buy one. It's for a multimedia (well more of a photo display) box to go with the big new TV. -- Chris Green

Presumably the receive connects as a normal keyboard, so it should just be detected that way. I have an IR wireless keyboard that plugs into the PS/2 ports for keyboard and mouse and that Just Works. -- David Reynolds david@reynoldsfamily.org.uk

Hi, I've got a Logitech DiNovo Edge wireless keyboard, which has a touch pad instead of a ball, but it works perfectly with Linux. Battery life seems very good as well, I can't remember the last time I charged it up! :-) It is a Bluetooth keyboard, but the dongle it comes with presents it to the PC as a standard HID device. OK, thanks, it would seem then that such keyboards work OK with Linux. I don't like touch pads personally, I'm going to go for one with a trackball as that's what I use on my desktop machine anyway (a separate trackball that is). I have the new Linux box working at full 1920x1080 on the TV now, it's excellent and is perfect for showing pictures from Digikam. -- Chris Green
