Thanks slef I'll look at the chrooted methods as it looks to be the most viable option. the /bin/false trick won't work (has just been tried..) as cvs needs a shell to run some commands.. Whilst SVN may be an option for new projects, the current project already uses cvs. So in this respect, my hands are tied to a certain extent. Regards, Paul.
