I've been following the -test kernels on my laptop (running Debian testing). The main thing I'm interested in it for is better power management; it's only since -test7 that suspend-to-disk has started working for me. I can't say aside from that I've noticed anything wonderfully better, but then the laptop doesn't get stressed that much. J. -- It's more than good enough so I ain't switch'n.
