hdd: driver not present This looks a good clue to my problem but what do I need to do?
What ide-cdrom line is in your /proc/ide/drivers file? ; cat /proc/ide/drivers ide-cdrom version 4.61 ide-disk version 1.18 What is in your /proc/scsi/scsi file, if any? I wonder whether something is expecting ide-scsi to claim it, because it's a cdrw. I am probably wrong.
