[ALUG] Lubuntu install

I have a Pentium machine here and I'm trying to install Lubuntu on it but without success. I've looked at this page - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/AdvancedMethods and have added the -- forecepae command to the end of the command string but all I get is a cursor in the top left of the screen and nothing else happens. I've had other distros working on the machine - I installed MX last week - but thought I'd have a play with something else but I'm not having any success.
