Would love to, but off to the lakes.
On a more positive note, I'm going to be the proud owner of a narrowboat, beginning the long chug from rugby to reading this Sunday. Will mean that I can offer her as a warming spot / place for tea after swims if I've got her in the area!

It may be optimistic given coldness to swim for the whole Pangbourrne - Mapledurham Lock stretch, but we could go from the island at Thames Beach to the Lock I would have thought, if wetsuited. We could park at the lane at the top of the road to the lock, walk down along the river bank and swim back along.

Also, it would be great if we could arrange something between Pangbourne and Mapledurham Lock. The entire swim must be around 1.5 - 2 miles but there is plenty of (muddy) exit points as has been mentioned previously, and it is a very pretty stretch of river with good parking at either end. Any date suggestions?
