New Bush hacker

Hi all,

Please excuse a "me too" from a new recruit...

I bought a IBX101 from Time for a tenner yesterday and after a bit of
hacking today, am pleasantly surprised at what it can do.

Before powering it up, I did the 4k7 clock mod and cleaned out the PCB
jumper pads. Thankfully, all worked AOK and it booted cleanly.

I had to resort to the BASIC interpreter (brought back memories of my
BBC Model B!) to get to the ISP details- the password has changed to
muf1312129 on my ROMs. After a bit of retyping passwords, Demon.net
works AOK.

As I don't have a ZIP drive, the 68W PCMCIA socket pads look
interesting- is there any information about perhaps getting the box to
boot from a CF card in a PCMCIA connector? I guess a bit of reading up
on the datasheets would help me answer this.

My interest is to mod the box to give a cheap WWW access device for
home automation so a means of switching from modem to one of the
serial ports is my priority. Being able to use the internal browser
software would be a bonus, but a cheap boot method (PCMCIA/ net boot
bootstrap ROM+ serial PPP?) and Linux/ NetBSD would be fantastic.

Anyway, thanks to all for the collected wisdom so far,

James
