So does the other ROM map on the end of the first ROM, or does it use
the 16/32 bit bus mode switch to widen the bus ? I recall some very cunning
code at the start of the Arm600 ROMs that ran in 16 bit mode from
power-on-reset but in 32-bit mode when executing a soft reset.

Yes, it is. That's what BREAK was originally, but I'm not sure if it
remained that way - maybe it just simulates a reset. The Amiga really
did reset, and checked for some patterns in dram to see if it should
attempt a warm boot ..
