Using serial port

Hi,
Firstly a bit of an introduction. I'm an old Unix/linux hacker but a real
RiscOs newbie. My IBX260 is my first RiscOs machine.
My interest here is using the IBX as a web browser on my own internal network.
In the absence of e'net, I'm looking at the serial port. I've found
Victor's hardware hack and can see how to bring out the serial port but can
the std software be made to use this instead of the modem? I'd like to
connect the IBX to a serial port of my Linux machine, run pppd, and use the
Linux box to generate content for the IBX. The Linux side, I think I can
cope with but the IBX?.
Is this possible?
Thanks.
Andy
