I see that the ARM/Linux kernel supports PLIP - 
the 'Parallel Line Internet Protocol' .. maybe that
could be used to locally network the STB..

Though I guess the biggest hurdle in running ARM/Linux
onthis box is getting a boot sector onto a ZIP disk
and in
this obsolete ArgoFS/IZipFS format :(
