Synovial_Membrane
Membrane of connective tissue forming a bag (synovial sac) enclosing a
freely movable joint, e.g. elbow joint, being attached to the
bones at either side of the joint.
The bag is filled with a viscous fluid (synovial fluid) containing
mucoprotein and mucopolysaccharide, for lubrication.
This fluid is secreted by the epithelial cells lining the sac (synovial
cells). The cells' secretion is called synovia.
