Platelet
AKA thrombocyte.
Disc-shaped cell fragment with no nucleus, present in blood and
produced by breakup of megakaryocytes.
Platelets gather at wound sites and release clotting factor X and
other active products including platelet-derived
growth factor (PDGF).
